Metro Police and Traffic Officer Learnership Available

A traineeship is now open if you want to work as a traffic officer. This 18-month learnership might be for you if you are unemployed and between the ages of 18 and 35.

For those who are interested in a career in road traffic law enforcement, the City of Cape Town is thrilled to announce an amazing opportunity! We encourage applicants who meet the requirements to apply for our Traffic Officer Learnership program.

Start Date of Metro Police and Traffic Officer Learnership Program: June 1, 2025
Training will last 18 months, ending on November 30, 2026.
Hourly allowance: R34.91

Learnership Conditions

  • Grade 12 qualification, for which supporting documentation is required
  • Maintain a permanent residence in Cape Town.
  • Br knowledgeable in at least one official language and English
  • Students and EPWP employees are eligible to apply if they are currently unemployed.
  • be less than 35 and at least 18 years old.
  • To participate in demanding physical training, one must be in good physical and medical health.
  • Teamwork and the ability to handle pressure are essential.
  • No criminal history
  • A valid driver’s license is required, with minimum code B (manual transmission).
  • The Road Traffic Law Enforcement Further Education and Training Certificate and the Law Enforcement Skills Program SP4/2012 must be successfully completed by trainees.
  • No visible tattoos while wearing any of the service uniforms.
